Live Scores and Stats - Kwibuka Women's T20 2021- Match 13- Third Place Playoff

This match is a third place playoff and both teams would like to sign off the tournament on a high.

Current Form Nigeria Women:

Nigeria Women were totally outplayed in the Semi Final match against Namibia Women.

Fielding first, Nigeria Women conceded 156 runs in 20 overs.

The opening bowlers of Nigeria Women bowled pretty well and claimed the wickets of in-form Adri Van Der Merve and Sune Wittmann early on in the innings. Until this point, Nigeria Women looked dominant.

In came Yasmeen Khan at number 3 and she seemed to be batting on an entirely different surface. Khan smashed an unbeaten 78 off 53 deliveries. Her innings featured 6 fours and 2 huge sixes. Kayleen Green supported her well with a knock of 29 in 25 balls. Both the batters stitched a partnership of 83 runs for the 3rd wicket and propelled the team's total to a formidable 156 for 2 in 20 overs.

Chasing 156, Nigeria Women got off to a terrible start as they lost both the opening batters for a total of 18 runs. Kayleen Green ran in hard and delivered absolutely unplayable lines and constricted the batters of Nigeria. She returned with figures of 5 for 0 in 4 overs. Due to a slow run rate, Nigeria Women always found themselves under a lot of pressure. It also resulted in a frequent fall of wickets. In the end, Nigeria Women could only manage a total of 65 for 8 in 20 overs, falling short by 91 runs.

Yasmeen Khan was awarded player of the match for her supreme performance with the bat.

Current Form Rwanda Women:

Rwanda Women lost to Kenya Women in the Semi Final match.

Kenya Women won the toss and elected to bat first. Queentor Abel and Veronica Abuga failed to provide a good start to the team and lost their wickets early on. Abel was picked up by Margueritte Vumiliya while Abuga ran herself out in a dramatic fashion. Margaret Ngoche stepped up at number 3 and played a reviving knock of 38 in 46 balls. Sharon Juma and Sarah Wetoto provided a good support to their captain and made 11 and 20 runs respectively. On the back of these gritty efforts, Kenya Women were able to put on a competitive total of 117 for 6 in 20 overs.

Chasing 117, Rwanda Women got off to a terrible start and lost 3 wickets at a total of 32. For Kenya Women, Melvin Idambo and Queentor Abel bowled economically and gave away just 12 and 11 runs respectively in their 4 over spell. Cathia Uwamahoro tried to offer some resistance to the bowlers but her innings was cut short by Esther Wachira. Rwanda Women never really looked in the game as they kept losing wickets at crucial times. Eventually, they were bowled out for 65, losing the match by 52 runs.
