The 2nd Test Match of the Sri Lanka Tour of Bangladesh, 2022 will take place from the 23rd of May 2022 to 27th of May 2022 between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka.

The first Test match of the Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh 2022 ended up with no result.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to have a bat first. Skipper Dimuth Karunaratne was dismissed early on after scoring 9 runs. Kusal Mendis at number 3 showed his class and collected 54 runs off 131 balls. The real stellar of a knock was played by the veteran Angelo Mathews. He accumulated 199 runs in 397 balls. He unfortunately missed out on his double ton as he perished to Nayeem Hasan for 199. On the back of his brilliance, Sri Lanka put on a huge total of 397 before being bowled out in the first innings.

Nayeem Hasan picked up 6 wickets in the first innings for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh started off their first innings effectively. The opening pair of Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudul Hasan Joy were involved in a 100+ run stand for the first wicket. Tamim Iqbal retired himself after making a fantatic century. He came out to bat again and was dismissed for a well made 133 off 218 balls. Mushfiqur Rahim in the middle order smashed 105 runs off 282 balls. Liton Das also played a valuable innings of 88 in 189 balls. A mix of spectacular knocks with the bat ensured that Bangladesh crossed the 400 run mark and finished their first innings at 465 before being bowled out.

For Sri Lanka, Kasun Rajitha picked up 4 wickets for 60 runs.

During the second innings, Sri Lanka lost 6 wickets for 161 and looked in a spot of bother on the 5th day of the Test match. However, Dinesh Chandimal and Niroshan Dickwella kept their cool and managed to draw the Test match by playing out the remaining overs of the 5th day.

Dickwella made 61 off 96 balls while Chandimal remained not out at 39 to successfully deny Bangladesh of a victory.
