Both the attacking openers Mohammad Shahzad and Sunil Narine went for the glory shot and lost their wickets early on in the innings. They were dismissed cheaply by Nasir Hossain. The big fish Keiron Pollard was the next one to follow them into the pavilion as he was dismissed for a paltry 2 run knock. Thereafter, Cameron Delport resurrected the innings along with Prashant Gupta and managed to put on a stand of 41 runs for the 4^th wicket. It was the late flourish by Azam Khan that provided a ray of hope for Gladiators to cross the 100 run mark. He scored 37 off 13 deliveries and helped Gladiators make 104 in their 10 overs.

Chasing 104, Pune Devils did not have an ideal start as they lost their opener Tom Kohler Cadmore for 12. An early dismissal could not put breaks to the momentum as Chadwick Walton and Kennar Lewis smashed the bowlers to all parts of the ground. They stitched a partnership of 27 runs for the 2^nd wicket. After Walton was dismissed, Kennar Lewis held one end very strong and played an unbeaten match winning knock of 57 runs in 28 deliveries that included 6 huge sixes. Due to his brave effort, Pune Devils chased the total easily with 4 balls to spare and 7 wickets in hand.
