Live Scores and Stats - Deccan Gladiators v Maratha Arabians - Match 22

Current Form Deccan Gladiators:

Deccan Gladiators lost their recently completed game against the red-hot Northern Warriors by a small margin of 3 runs.

Winning the toss, Deccan Gladiators decided to field first against a power packed lineup of Warriors. Brandon King disappointed yet another time as he was dismissed for a golden duck by Sunil Narine. Waseem Muhammad carried on his form from the earlier game and smashed 26 off just 10 deliveries. Nicolas Pooran at number 3 also played a captain’s knock of 29 and helped set up a wonderful platform for the middle order to cash on. The highlight of the first half was Rovman’s innings of 51 off 23 balls. As a result of these phenomenal efforts, Warriors got to a total of 143 for 4 in 10 overs.

Chasing 143 was never going to be an easy task for Deccan Gladiators. Sunil Narine has developed a habit of losing his wicket without troubling the scorers and he did so in this innings as well. After he got out for a duck, Azam Khan came in at number 3 and played a blinder. He smashed 54 runs off just 22 deliveries that included 5 maximums. The middle order including Kieron pollard and Cameron Delport could not impress much and lost their wickets cheaply. It was the sensational knock played by Anwar Ali at number 6 that provided the much needed boost to the run rate and got Deccan closer to the target. With 24 needed off the last over, Anwar Ali managed to score 20 and Gladiators lost the match by a margin of 4 runs.

Current Form Maratha Arabians

Maratha Arabians have lost their second consecutive game in the Super League against Team Abu Dhabi. After their win in the very first game of the tournament, Maratha Arabians have not been able to perform with their potential so far.

After losing the toss, they were asked to have a bat first. Muktar Ali had been promoted up the order but it did not do wonders for Maratha Arabians as he got dismissed early after scoring 14 off 7 deliveries. Mohammad Hafeez came in at number and played a good hand with his knock of 20 off 13 and stitched a partnership of 48 runs for the 2nd wicket with Alishan Sharafu. However, there was no real momentum going into the partnership and once it was broken, there was too much left for the middle order to do. Shoaib Malik tried to find gaps and scored 15 off 9 but he could not provide the desired finish for Maratha Arabians as they finished the innings with 97 for 4.

Chasing 97, Team Abu Dhabi seemed to be in a hurry as Chris Gayle simply bullied the Arabians at the start of the innings. He looked in great touch and it is certainly a brilliant sign for Team Abu Dhabi going deeper into the tournament. By the end of 2 overs, Team Abu Dhabi were already 45 for 0. They seemed well on course of achieving the target. Paul Stirling lost his wicket in the 3rd over of the innings but Chris Gayle looked unperturbed by it and carried on his big hitting phenomenon.   He reached his half century in just 12 balls and showed by he is called The Universe Boss. Maratha Arabians did not have any answers to this carnage as Team Abu Dhabi comfortably chased the total in the 6th over. Chris Gayle finished with an unbeaten knock of 84 off just 22 balls; an innings to cherish for a long time to come.
