Team Abu Dhabi lost a nail biting thriller against Northern Warriors in their first outing of the Super League.

Batting first after losing the toss, Team Abu Dhabi lost two of their big players Chris Gayle and Paul Stirling without troubling the scorers much. Chris Gayle was dismissed for 2 while Paul Stirling was bowled on the first ball of the innings by Wahab Riaz. Luke Wright and Joe Clarke steadied the ship thereafter. Luke scored 33 off 15 deliveries while Joe Clarke carried on his form in the tournament by scoring a quick paced 50 off just 24 balls. Ben Duckett at number 5 also contributed with his knock of 31 off 17 deliveries. Banking on these phenomenal performances with the bat, Team Abu Dhabi posted 123 for 3 in 20 overs.

Chasing 123, Northern Warriors opted for a cautious start but once the eyes were set, Lendl Simmons played the anchor role while Waseem Muhammad played the aggressor. Waseem made 76 off 34 deliveries before losing his wicket to Jamie Overton in the last over. Having 15 runs to defend, Jamie Overton’s 10^th over was full of surprises. He went for 12 in the first 2 deliveries and then made a phenomenal comeback by claiming 2 wickets off successive deliveries to leave the equation to 3 off 2 balls. Lendl Simmons nudged the second last ball for a single while Rovman Powell held his nerve to score the important 2 runs off the last ball to clinch this nerve wracking thriller by 8 wickets.

Maratha Arabians have been defeated in their first game of the Super League by Qalandars.

After losing the toss, Maratha Arabians were asked to have a bat first. The start was disappointing as they lost Abdul Shakoor and Laurie Evans in quick succession. Mohammad Hafeez used his experience and punished the loose balls to reach a score of 44 in just 26 deliveries. Shoaib Malik in the middle order also played his part with his knock of 23 in 16 deliveries. However, there was no real momentum into the innings as Arabians finished their 10 overs with a total of 101 for 5. 

Chasing 101, Qalandars did not have an ideal start as they lost their in-form batsman Tom Banton in the first over. Sohail Akhtar who came in at number 3 carried on his form and smashed 20 runs off 11 balls. Along with Sharjeel Khan, he added 50 runs for the 2^nd wicket partnership. At this point, Qalandars looked quite comfortable in their quest to chase 101. However, back to back dismissals of both Akhtar and Sharjeel Khan put them in a tricky situation. Ben Dunk at number 4 played a vital knock and him along with Asif Ali attacked the opposition to ease the pressure off their team. There were a couple of late dismissals but Qalandars were well on course and they chased the total in the 9^th over with 4 wickets in hand.
