Cricket Match Prediction ICC U19 World Cup 15th Place Playoff - Nigeria v Japan

ICC U19 World Cup 15th Place Playoff - Nigeria v Japan

The 15th Place Playoff of the ICC Under 19 World Cup 2020 will be played between Nigeria U19 and Japan U19 at the North-West University No2 Ground in Potchefstroom.

Nigeria finished at the bottom in Group B. They failed to win any of their matches and in fact suffered huge losses.

Nigeria were part of a one-sided encounter against Sri Lanka in the plate quarter final one. Their bowlers could not make an impact and leaked a lot of runs. Sylvester Okpe, Rasheed Abolarin and Miracle Akhigbe were still able to hold fort but the rest of the bowling was truly disappointing.

The Nigerian batters could only manage 73 runs and were bundled within 17.3 overs. Lower order batsman Abdulrahman Jimoh, who was the only Nigerian batsman to reach double figures, was the top scorer with 15.

Elijah Olaleye is likely to end as the highest run-scorer for Nigeria. Peter Aho is expected to be their leading bowler in this game.

After a forgettable group stage outing, Japan lost the plate quarter final two against England by a big margin of 9 wickets. The team batted first and got bundled out for just 93.

Neel Date and Debashish Sahoo are likely to be the top scorers for Japan. Max Clements is predicted to be their top wicket-taker.

Let's have a look at the probable playing XI of both teams:

Japan - Marcus Thurgate (c & wk), Max Clements, Tushar Chaturvedi, Neel Date, Kento Dobell, Leon Mehlig, Masato Morita, Shu Noguchi, Yugandhar Retharekar, Debashish Sahoo, Kazumasa Takahashi

Nigeria - Sylvester Okpe (c), Sulaimon Runsewe (wk), Elijah Olaleye, Abdulrahman Jimoh, Isaac Danladi, Peter Aho, Akhere Isesele, Samuel Mba, Rasheed Abolarin, Shehu Audu, Miracle Akhigbe
