Cricket Match Predictions Bengal T20: Mohun Bagan AC and East Bengal Club Match 27
The 27th match of the Bengal T20 Challenge 2020 will be played between Mohun Bagan AC and East Bengal Club in Kolkata.
East Bengal showed some healthy promises in their back to back victories before they were defeated by Tapan Memorial Club. They are currently placed at the 5th position and it is looking grim for them to make it to the finals.
Abhimanyu Easwaran has returned to the fold but has not given any significant performance for his team so far. In the match against Tapan Memorial Club, East Bengal Club lost Abhimanyu within the powerplay overs while batting first. After the dismissal of their key batsmen, East Bengal Club could not fancy strokeplay when it mattered the most. The key to their success in the last few games have been their flamboyant nature of play and it was missing in the game against Tapan Memorial Club. They scored just 129 in their 20 overs.
The target was not a competitive one and was chased very easily in the end by Tapan Memorial Club. For East Bengal, Mukesh Kumar was very expensive giving away 34 runs in his 3 over spell. Arnab Nandi bowled economically at the rate of 4.25 but he was not appropriately supported by the other bowlers to contain the run flow. Tapan Memorial chased the total with 6 wickets in hand.
East Bengal Club need to play their last few games of the tournament for pride and try to give a good contest to Mohun Bagan AC in their next fixture.
Mohun Bagan AC are currently placed at the number 3 position on the points table. In the absence of Manoj Tiwary, their campaign has been full of ups and downs throughout the tournament. In the last game against Kalighat Club, they gave in a great performance to chase down a total of 150 runs. Bowling first, Mohun Bagan AC started on a sloppy note with their fielding and the opposition team manoeuvred an opening partnership of 53 runs. Mohun Bagan kept it tight in the middle overs as they did not allow the key batsmen like Shubham Chatterjee to make runs with ease. Courtesy to the last over blows by Abhishek Bose that Kalighat Club were able to manage 150 runs on the board.
The target seemed to be an impossible one considering the past performances of Mohun Bagan AC. Opening the innings, Vivek Singh turned all eyes and attention on himself by scoring at a strike rate of 254. His 61 off 24 balls sealed the game in favour of Mohun Bagan AC. Writtick Chatterjee too provided a handy support to Vivek Singh with his 43 runs off 31 balls. Mohun Bagan chased the target easily within the 16th over and 6 wickets remaining.
Such emphatic win over Kalighat Club must give a lot of confidence to Mohun Bagan going in their next game against East Bengal Club.
