ECB Blues find themselves in the top two of points table with 7 wins to their name so far. They are very certain to make it into the semi-finals. They won the last completed fixture against Team Abu Dhabi. Winning the toss, ECB Blues decided to bat first and Vriitya Aravind showed the intentions by hitting a six off the 3rd delivery. However, continuing to do so, he got dismissed on the bowling of Mudassir Hussain. Alishan Sharafu was the second wicket to follow as he ran himself out after miscommunication with Fahad Nawaz at the striker’s end. Ansh Tandon and Fahad Nawaz then tried to resurrect the innings to good effect but Nawaz was cleaned up by Jishu Balan in the 7th over. Zawar Farid came in at number 5 and played a courageous innings of 38 in just 26 deliveries. ECB Blues bowlers went for plenty in the first over but came back very strong in the second over of the innings. Waheed Ahmed claimed two important wickets in the second over and derailed the chase of Team Abu Dhabi. Sunil Hariani and Soorya Sathish tried to rebuild the innings after the early disaster but the pace at which they scored runs was very slow. The highlight of Team Abu Dhabi’s chase was the innings played by Irfan Khan who scored an attacking 73 off 40 balls that included 6 huge sixes. However, it was not enough as Team Abu Dhabi were restricted to a total of 139 in their 20 overs losing the game by 32 runs.
Ajman Alubond on the other hand have won only 1 game in their 8 completed matches so far. In the last game against Sharjah Bukhatir XI, they lost the toss and were asked to have a bat first. Asif Khan and Abdul Shakoor gave a stable start to Ajman Alubond as they added 52 runs for the 1st wicket. After the first wicket, Abdul Shakoor was joined by Ali Khan who accelerated the flow of runs and played some beautiful strokes throughout his 61 off 32 balls. His innings included 6 huge sixes and 2 fours. A good hand by Rameez Shahzad in the death overs ensured that Ajman Alubond reached a good total of 161 in 20 overs.
Chasing the total of 161, Sharjah Bukhatir XI lost Renjth Mani in the first over to Sultan Muhammad Akhtar. This was soon followed with the dismissal of Faisal Khan Baraki leaving Sharjah Bukhatir XI reeling at 14 for 2 in 2 overs. After a disappointing start, Khalid Shah and Fayyaz Ahmed got together to stitch a partnership of 76 runs between them for the 3rd wicket. Fayyaz Ahmed scored an unbeaten 64 runs off 49 balls and played a great captain innings. The late burst by Umair Ali got Sharjah Bukhatir XI home in the 19th over as they won by 6 wickets.
