The 5th ODI of the ICC Men’s World Cup League 2 will take place between Oman and Nepal at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground, Muscat, Oman.
Current Form Nepal:
Nepal side were beaten emphatically at the hands of USA by 6 wickets in their last completed fixture.
Batting first, Nepal lost the opener Asif Sheikh early on in the innings. Post his dismissal, Gyanendra Malla and Kushal Bhurtel tried to revive the innings with their partnership of 51 runs for the 2nd wicket before Bhurtel was dismissed by Karima Gore. Rohit Kumar Paudel and Binod Bhandari also lost their wickets at wrong times. Gyanendra Malla held one end together and partnered with Gulshan Jha for the 5th wicket to give hopes for a big total. However, there was a huge turnaround after the arrival of Saurabh Netravalkar into the attack. He took 4 quick wickets and Nepal went from 140 for 4 to 174 all out.
During the chase, USA lost Sushant Modani and Karima Gore early on in the innings. Both fell to the wily spin bowling of Sandeep Lamichhane. Steven Taylor as an opener played a fantastic knock of 92 in 63 balls to bail his team out from an early trouble. He struck a partnership of 97 runs for the 3rd wicket with Monank Patel to almost seal the game in USA’s favour. In the end, USA chased the target in the 30th over with 6 wickets in hand.
Current Form Oman:
Oman won their last match against USA convincingly by 4 wickets.
Oman bowled first and USA got off to a terrible start losing opener Steven Taylor and Monank Patel early on in the innings. Dominique Rikhi was the next one to follow as he was dismissed by Kaleemullah. Jaskaran Malhotra and Sushant Modani tried their best to resurrect the innings but lost their wickets at important times.
When USA looked down and out, Elmore Hutchinson and Karima Gore combined together and stitched a stand of 66 runs for the 9th wicket. This partnership gave a much needed boost to the USA innings and helped them reach a total of 178 before being bowled out.
Chasing 178, Oman could not get off to an ideal start and lost 3 wickets for just 57 runs. Zeeshan Maqsood and Mohammad Nadeem played with calm to proceed towards the target. Maqsood was dismissed by Kenjige at 31. After Maqsood’s departure, Suraj Kumar joined Nadeem at the crease and both batted brilliantly to get Oman closer to the target.
When Suraj Kumar was dismissed at 35, the situation got tense as Oman needed a run a ball with only 4 wickets in hand. However, Sandeep Goud and Naseem Khushi held their nerves and took Oman over the line with 2 balls to spare.
