Virtual County Championship - DIVISION TWO
Middlesex v Nottinghamshire: venue Lord's, London
Match Summary
Nottinghamshire 315 (Patel 91, Moores 64, Murtagh 4/65, Harris 3/73)
Middlesex
Having won the toss Notts would have hoped to get off to a good start however at 80/4 things were looking a little dicey. Accurate new bowling from Murtagh and Finn had given the home team the advantage they wanted. From there though Notts were rescued by Patel (91) and Moores (64) important partnership. As the new ball was wearing off they were scoring freely pouncing on any width offered to them as they took the score past 200.
Middlesex rallied in the final session as they bowled the visitors out for 315 in the last over of the day.
Sussex v Glamorgan: venue Hove
Match Summary
Sussex 110 (de Lange 6/39, Hogan 4/71) & 37/1
Glamorgan 149 (Bopara 4/26, Robinson 4/36)
21 wickets fell on day 1 as the bowlers of both teams dominated the batters. Glamorgan had no hesitation in bowling first knocking their opponents over on the stroke of lunch, de Lange and Hogan sharing all 10 wickets as the ball went around corners. After lunch it was the turn of the home seamers to have their fun but it wasn't until Bopara and Robinson (4 wickets each) were brought on until the ball started to talk. Glamorgan falling away for 149ao.
By the close of play the scores were all but tied, leaving Glamorgan hoping to be able to cancel at least one night's stay at the hotel!
Leicestershire v Worcestershire: venue Leicester
Match Summary
Leicestershire 383/5dec (Dearden 167*, Ackermann 69, Horton 57)
Worcestershire
Harry Dearden scored a fantastic century as Leicestershire dominated day 1. Having won the toss they had no hesitation in batting first and Dearden played shots all around the ground as he made 167*. He was supported by Horton and Ackermann who both made half centuries.
Joe Leach took three wickets, but all of the Worcestershire bowlers proved to be very expensive as Leicestershire made 383/5 before declaring.
Derbyshire v Durham: venue Derby
Match Summary
Durham 232 (Harte 72, Palladino 6/61)
Derbyshire 74/1 (Godleman 44*)
Derbyshire had the better of the opening day as the visitors fell away. Having won the toss and electing to bat they made a strong start as the Derbyshire bowlers missed their lengths initially. The introduction of Palladino into the attack was the turning point as his control and movement was perfect for this wicket as he took his second 6fer of the season so far.
Harte had earlier made 72 but it was a lone hand as the visitors were all out for 232, by the close Derbyshire were well placed on 74/1.
