The Hundred 2020 FAQs: Where can I watch it live?

The Hundred is expected to see a lot of new people coming into the sport. For them, here is our FAQ guide. For the enlightened as well, revision is never a bad idea.

What comprises a game in The Hundred?

Well, the name answers your question. It's 100 balls per inning i.e a total of 200 balls per game - that is if the teams don't get bowled out before that.

How long will an over be?

There is no concept of an over as such in The Hundred. It is all about deliveries. The fielding side change ends after every 10 balls. Bowlers can bowl either five or 10 consecutive balls, comprising an over, if you want to call it that. Each bowler can bowl a maximum of 20 balls per game.

The Geometry of Cricket Part 2: The Opening Bowler’s (Off-side) Field

In part one of the series, we looked at the straight field and getting the mid-on and mid-off fielders in the best positions relative to cover and midwicket to protect as much of the ground as possible. We discussed imagining a 90 degree arc in which you are intending to make the batter play, based on where you are intending to bowl the ball and what you are intending to do with it. That 90 degree arc is different for different bowlers, and in this edition we will look at setting the off-side field for your opening bowler who moves the ball away from the bat.

Self Isolated Groundsman Chris Johnson

We’re all preoccupied with the coronavirus crisis, but I thought I’d write the story of my first couple of years as a retiree who has moved into cricket groundsmanship.

I was bored out of my skull in my role in PR. I had enjoyed a fascinating career but this job wasn’t exactly inspiring me when my boss told me my time was up.

Well I was 68, so retirement came. With it the launch into a new career, albeit on a semi volunteer basis, as a cricket groundsman, looking after two squares at Knebworth Park Cricket Club in Hertfordshire.
