Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe in UAE 2021: Full squads, Fixtures & Preview - All you need to know

Afghanistan

The Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe series will comprise 2 Tests and 3 T20s and will run from March 2 to March 20 in the UAE.

Both the teams have announced their test squads, which include a few names along unexpected lines. All the matches will be played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

The teams are confident of hosting all the fixtures smoothly after a white-ball series between Ireland and Afghanistan was recently played in the UAE, following a few positive Covid-19 cases in the UAE vs Afghanistan fixtures. This, of course, comes on the back of a successful IPL 2020 in the UAE.

Two test matches between the teams will be followed by 3 T20Is. The tests though will not be a part of the World Test Championship. The first test begins on March 2.

Captains Kieron Pollard of Trinidad and Tobago Red Force and Leon Johnson of Guyana Jaguars are both confident they have the firepower to win the CG Insurance Super50 final and lift the Sir Clive Lloyd trophy on Saturday night.

They spoke to the media ahead of the upcoming assignment and said they expect an exciting encounter at the Coolidge Cricket Ground. First ball is 1:30pm (12:30pm Jamaica Time). The final will be live on ESPN Caribbean and ESPN Caribbean HD and live across the Caribbean on radio with lead station Vibes FM, Dominica.

Johnson said: “The mood is good in the camp. Obviously, Trinidad are unbeaten and have played good cricket but I think once we execute our plans well, it will be a good game of cricket. I don’t see why the Jaguars shouldn’t come out on top. I think fielding will be a major aspect; obviously to win a championship against a quality Red Force we need to be exceptional in the field.”
