MATCH 2 PREVIEW - Royal Cricket Padova vs Trentino Aquila

Royal Cricket Padova is among the few teams in the European Cricket Series Venice to have a number of match-winners. Anoman Andradege and Angelo Andradege are their top batsmen and even if one of them fires, the team will have enough runs on the board for their bowlers to make a match out of it.

The reason why the aforementioned is suggested is that both Dishan Fernando and Sameera Kurukulasuriya can be lethal on their day. The best part about them is that they can not only keep runs dry but also have the knack of picking up regular wickets.

Royal Cricket Padova's Sameera Kurukulasuriya is also known for his all-round ability.

All-rounders Muhammad Zaka Ullah Khan and Rameez Mohammad are the life of Trentino Aquila. Each of the two play the role of almost three players by themselves as they not only score quick runs, and can be handy with the ball, but are electric in the field as well.

Runs are expected from Usman Arshad and Tahir Mehmood, while Aqib Mohammad and Atif Saleem Raza will be the top bowlers for Trentino Aquila.

Trentino Aquila are more than capable of being one of the four semi-finalists.

Let's have a look at the squads:

Royal Cricket Padova
 – Anoman Andradege, Angelo Andradege, Akila Asurappulige, Weerahennadige Fernando, Dishan Fernando, Sameera Kurukulasuriya, Kalubowila Gunasekara, Nishan Arachchige, Clarance Kumarasinghe, Ganidu Appuhamilage, Subith Gamage, Thushara Arachchige, Vidana Dananjaya, Indika Fernando, Jaliya Mudiyanselage, Warnakulasuriya Rodrigo, Chamara Sududewage, Sajith Thenahandi, Lahiru Thommage, Chamara Warnakulasuriya, Lasanka Wijewardna, Sandun Vidanalage, Katunayakage Martin Perera, Jayabahu Mudiyabselage Jayabahu, Loku Arumalage Dinesh Silva, Gasbaduge Jeewan Fernando, Thudugoda Badalge Randajeewa, Malwanage Fernando

ECS Venice T10 2021

MATCH 1 - Venezia vs Padova

As Venezia gear up for their first match of the European Cricket Series Venice, they would expect Nazmul Haque to do the bulk of the scoring for them. Nazmul was the top scorer for the side last year and his good form augurs well for Venezia Cricket Club.

With regards to their bowling, Shagar Choquder is likely to lead the pack. Shagar Choquder was Venezia Cricket Club's top wicket taker last year and will be expected to produce a similar performance in this game as well.

Padova Cricket Club have a couple of clean strikers in Salinda Kodikara and Kalum Warnakulasuriya and the onus will be on the duo to score quickly. Salinda Kodikara, in particular, has the ability to go big and will be a handful if he gets going.

All-rounder Ghulam Abbas is the life of Padova Cricket Club as there isn't either a better batter or bowler than Abbas in the side. This places a lot of responsibility on his shoulders.

Akash Handun was Padova's top wicket taker in 2020 and is a good bet to be picked as the captain of your fantasy XI.

Let's have a look at the squads:

– Anton Costa, Nuwan Sameera, Damith Kosala, Ramesh Silva, Asad Ali, Akash Handun, Nissanka Kuda, Ghulam Abbas, Nishendra Rodrigo, Cresley Fernando, Ranil Fernando, Salinda Kodikara, Prabath Marasingha, Sampath Ungammannadige, Kalum Warnakulasuriya, Tharuka Rodrigo

Venezia – Alamin Hossain, Miah Alamin, Nazmul Haque, Hosan Ahmed, Simone Bolgan, Sojun Islam, Mahmudul Islam, Nishantha Fernando D, Munna Ahammed, Mahbub Khan, Shagar Choquder, Rajib Miah, Sharif Ahmmed, Kamrul Haque, Mehedi Nitol, Shermin Gomes, Ezajul Hosen, Sabuj Mondal, Raju Miah, Imran Khan

New Zealand vs Bangladesh 2nd T20I Preview

All-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin must bat higher up for Bangladesh to provide their batting innings the impetus against a power-packed New Zealand side.

Live Scores and Stats - New Zealand v Bangladesh 2nd T20I

How the 4 debutants fared in series opener

There were as many as four debutants in the opening T20I between Bangladesh and New Zealand. Finn Allen and Will Young played their first ever T20I for New Zealand while Nasum Ahmed and Shoriful Islam made their debuts for Bangladesh.

The debutants had contrasting returns. Finn Allen, who knocked the door down in Super Smash 2020-21 finishing as the top run scorer in the tournament with 512 runs at an average of 56.88 and a strike rate of 193.93, failed to carry on his form in international cricket and was bowled of his very first delivery in international cricket off a delivery from Nasum Ahmed which snuck between his bat and pad.

Will Young, on the contrary, had a brilliant display of power hitting as he struck two fours and 4 sixes in his 30-ball 53, helping New Zealand to a massive total.

Result -  India won by seven runs

India batted first and were bowled out for 329. In their response, England lost their way, but fought brilliantly to finish just seven short at 322 for nine in their 50 overs.

Earlier, asked to bat, India's openers Shikhar Dhawan (67: 56b, 10x4) and Rohit Sharma (37) added 103. Then there was a middle-order collapse. India slipped to 157 for four before Rishabh Pant (78: 62b, 5x4. 4x6) and Hardik Pandya (64: 44b, 5x4, 4x6) put on a brisk 99 for the fifth wicket. Then, Krunal Pandya (25) and Shardul Thakur (30) added a further 45 runs for the seventh wicket. There was a late-order collapse which ended India's innings at 329 in 48.2 overs.

For England the best bowler was Mark Wood (3-34).

In their chase, England lost wickets at regular intervals. They slipped to 95 for four. Then, Dawid Malan (50: 50b, 6x4) and Liam Livingstone (36) out 60 runs for the fifth wicket. The innings further collapsed to 200 for seven. All seemed lost at that stage.

But Sam Curran played a terrific knock to end with the highest score for a number eight in ODI cricket. Curran finished unbeaten on 95 off 83 balls (9x4, 3x6). Curran added 57 for the eigthth wicket with Adil Rashid (19). Then he added a further 60 runs for the ninth wicket. The end got closer than what India had hoped for. But in the end the last three overs by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya and T Natarajan changed the course of the match. England finished seven short in the end.

For India the best bowlers were Kumar (3-42) and Shardul Thakur (4-67).
