The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expresses deep bereavement at the passing away of former President of the Board Kamal Ziaul Islam who breathed his last in Dhaka today (Monday, 03 May). He was 86 at the time of his death.

Kamal Ziaul Islam, popularly known as K Z Islam, served as the Board’s President from 30 January 1983 to 18 February 1987. BCB President Nazmul Hassan, MP has paid his tribute to K Z Islam : “He was a pioneer and Bangladesh cricket will forever be grateful to him for his vision and belief. He patronised and encouraged age group cricket with the Nirman School tournament during a period when the game was far from being a professional sport. On behalf of the Board I extend deepest condolences and sympathies to the family of K Z Islam.”

Club Cricket - Sale Couldn't Catch Bowdon

Sale came off second best in a high scoring game against Bowdon on Saturday.  The clash between two of the leading sides in division one of the Cheshire County league being decided by some superior out cricket from the visitors.

Bowdon elected to make first use of the Dane Road track, openers Pat Ashling and Jack Tipton finding it to their liking as they added 109 for the first wicket.

Rob Grant made the breakthrough for IS Recruitment sponsored Sale as he trapped Tipton for 41.  Isaac Brooks then took 2 quick wickets, including Ashling for 70, to make the score 121-3.

Ross Zalem (73) then took the score to 192 before two wickets in two balls for Brooks reduced Bowdon to 192-6 and the change to keep the visitors below 240.

However a quick-fire 39 from Matt Tully, helped by a couple of dropped chances from Sale, allowed Bowdon to post 259-7 declared in 49 overs.  Brooks finished with 4-81.

KKR vs RCB IPL 2021 Preview: RCB's re-emerging trends cause for worry

With Royal Challengers Bangalore sitting at the top of the IPL 2021 points table a couple of matches ago, it seemed as if they had got rid of their chronic problems.

Live Scores and Stats - KKR v RCB - Match 30 IPL 2021

Death bowling troubles

While it still appears to be true by and large, a couple of long-lasting trends reappeared for Royal Challengers Bangalore in their last match against Punjab Kings.

The team leaked a lot of runs in the death overs, which had been the perennial problem for RCB prior to this season, but the team had successfully managed to tick that box in this season on the back of Harshal Patel and Mohammed Siraj. Patel in particular has now begun to leak runs.

Dependence on de Villiers

Secondly, the over dependence of their middle order on AB de Villiers, particularly with Virat Kohli having promoted himself to open the batting. Once Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers were dismissed in quick succession in the last match against Punjab Kings, RCB were not in a position to even go for the chase, which should not be the case for a top-billed side.

At the same time, picking Shahbaz Ahmed ahead of Washington Sundar and Daniel Sams ahead of Dan Christian has provided Bangalore with better balance. You never know, it might just have been a one-off bad day for Bangalore.

KKR's lack of intent

KKR are still losing more matches than they are winning. Before their disappointing loss against Delhi Capitals, captain Morgan said that the team had found their best XI.

However, another loss prompted coach Brendon McCullum to make a public statement that he was left with no choice but to make changes. What KKR are lacking is intent, with the bat, particularly at the top of the order.

Perhaps, McCullum was taking a dig at young Shubman Gill who scored 43 off 38 deliveries, but there was not much he could do when a couple of quick wickets fell in the middle order.

Dre Russ finds his mojo

Despite giving away 25 runs from just one over, Shivam Mavi is likely to keep his spot on the back of a couple of brilliant performances prior to the hiding against Delhi. Andre Russell's return to form is a great sign for KKR, but that's about it.

If Royal Challengers Bangalore do not make knee jerk changes after the defeat against Punjab Kings, the team has ample form and ammunition to get the better of an inconsistent KKR.

 Squads

Royal Challengers Bangalore - Virat Kohli (c), Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, AB de Villiers (wk), Daniel Sams, Shahbaz Ahmed, Kyle Jamieson, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal

Kolkata Knight Riders - Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana, Eoin Morgan (c), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Pat Cummins, Shivam Mavi, Prasidh Krishna, Varun Chakravarthy
