Cricket World Player of the Week - Aaron Finch Australia
Australian ODI opener and skipper, Aaron Finch, is this week’s Cricket World Player of the Week. Not only did he mastermind a recent 3-2 ODI series win against India (coming back from 0-2 down) but he has now gone on to hit two centuries in the first 2 ODIs against Pakistan in the UAE.
His 116 off 135 balls that featured 8 fours and 4 sixes and won him the Man of the Match Award in the first ODI against Pakistan.
His career-best ODI score – an unbeaten 153* off 143 balls with 11 fours and 6 sixes – must rank as one of the best knocks in a run chase – he also only conceded just 41 from his bowling spell over 10 overs, the most frugal full set of the innings, not to mention the first time he'd bowled more than four overs in an ODI.
Also worth a mention was South Africa ODI opener Quinton de Kock who grabbed fourth position among batsmen in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings after playing a huge part in his team’s 5-0 victory over Sri Lanka in a home series that ended in Cape Town.
The 26-year-old left-handed wicketkeeper-batsman’s 353 runs in the series, which included one century and three half-centuries, have helped him win the player of the series award and gain four slots in the latest rankings.
