Cricket World Player of the Week - Ajaz Patel
New Zealand's Ajaz Patel became only the third bowler in the history of Test cricket to pick up all 10 wickets in an innings after Jim Laker and Anil Kumble.
It may have been a forgettable Test match for New Zealand as the team went on to lose the second and the last Test match of the two-match series against India at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai by a massive margin of 372 runs, but one Kiwi certainly stood out.
Ajaz Patel went on to pick up all 10 wickets in the first innings of the match and 14 wickets in all to claim the best figures against India in a Test match.
Patel accounted for some big names, dismissing the likes of Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara and Mayank Agarwal on a pitch that had a lot in it for the spinners.
His 14 for 225 in the match is the second-best figures for any New Zealand bowler in Test cricket behind Richard Hadley's 15 for 123 against Australia in Brisbane in 1985.
Only two more bowlers have taken 14 wickets or more in the history of Test cricket -- Rangana Herath against Pakistan in 2014 and Yasir Shah against New Zealand in 2018.
It must have been a bitter-sweet feeling for Ajaz as he registered a historic feat at the place of his birth, but his team wasn't even able to compete -- let alone win.
