Medium pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar ended up as the Player of the Series in the five T20 Internationals between India and South Africa as he took 6 wickets from 4 outings at 14.16 and an economy rate of 6.07.

Although he was a little expensive in the series opener, the way he bowled in the powerplay throughout the series turned out to be the difference between the two sides.

While the Indian batters had productive powerplays, the South African batters stood no chance against the skill and accuracy of the experienced Indian pacer.

Bhuvi was not in the best of form over the last couple of years but has improved his fitness in recent times, and with that, his performances are also on the way up.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad bowler had a brilliant IPL this year and took 12 wickets at an economy rate of 7.34.

In fact, he is already an IPL great and features among the top 10 wicket-takers of all time in the league with 154 wickets from 146 matches at an average of 25.78 and an economy rate of 7.30.

Such longevity and consistency is remarkable and one hopes that he keeps his fitness and form intact and serves Indian cricket for many years to come. If he can somehow make a comeback to Test cricket, there will be nothing like seeing the cherry on a string, preferably in overcast conditions.
