Chris Gayle, Windies and #universeboss, is this week’s Cricket World Player of the Week.

There are few records left to be broken for Chris Gayle, the self-styled Universe Boss of One Day and T20 cricket and he is in the form of his life, having battered the England attack for 135, 50, 162 and 77 in their recent ODI series in the Caribbean. The Windies levelled the series 2-2 having won the last ODI with Gayle scoring 77.

It would be a fitting end, to a wonderful international career, if Chris Gayle could win the ICC Cricket World Cup with the Windies this year - the biggest prize of them all. It is one that has eluded the West Indies since their glory days of the 1970s.

Chris Gayle will turn 40 this year and he has confirmed that he will retire after the World Cup. For the Windies to win it would be the stuff of fairytales - but you only have to look back on events in 2011, when India “won it for Sachin”, to see that in World Cups, fairytales can come true.
