Cricket World Player of the Week - Jason Holder
Jason Holder justified his No. 1 ranking in the ICC Test all-rounder charts with a match-winning display in the first Test between England and West Indies and is our Cricket World Player of the Week.
You may have realised by now, but before West Indies arrived on the England shores, most of us believed that Ben Stokes is the best all-rounder in the world, and we had every reason to think so.
However, Jason Holder justified his No. 1 ranking in the ICC all-rounder charts with a match-winning display in the just-concluded first Test between England and West Indies. Holder picked up a match haul of 7 wickets including his brilliant figures of 20-6-42-6 in the first innings.
He also dismissed his opposite number Ben Stokes in both innings, his third such achievement.
It was only fitting that Holder was at the crease when West Indies got across the line to win their first Test of a series in England since 2001 and earn their first points of the World Test Championship.
This was West Indies' 4th Test victory over England in the 6 Test matches under Jason Holder. He has now climbed to the fourth spot, ahead of Brian Lara, in the list of most successful West Indian captains with 11 wins from 33 matches and a win percentage of 33.33.
