Jasprit Bumrah has become the first Asian bowler to clinch a five-wicket haul in each of South Africa, England, Australia and West Indies and only the third Indian bowler to pick up a Test hat-trick.

When Jasprit Bumrah was first included in India's Test squad for South Africa, critics frowned. Most were of the opinion that he might have found success in the shorter format of the game but given his action and biomechanics, it would take a toll on his body to bowl 20 overs a day in Test matches and that it would not be sustainable.

However, Bumrah silenced all of them quite quickly and has gradually become the go-to man for Virat Kohli even in Test matches. He has now become the only Asian bowler to pick up a five-wicket haul in each of South Africa, Australia, England and West Indies.

After shouldering the load of India's bowling attack in the World Cup, Bumrah was rested for the ODI leg between India and West Indies and made an entry only in the Test matches. After combating a stiff back in the first innings of the first Test, Bumrah shone in the second innings with a five-wicket haul. He followed it up with a six-wicket haul in the first innings of the second Test which included a memorable hat -trick.

Bumrah is already climbing in the ICC Test bowling rankings and just like the ODIs, it does not seem distant when he will rule the ICC Test bowling charts as well.
