Cricket World Player of the Week - Jimmy Anderson England and Lancashire CCC

After doing a demolition job on India, in the 2^nd Test at Lord’s, Jimmy Anderson has been selected as the Cricket World Player of the Week for this week.

With match figures of 4-91 in the 1^st Test match against India, Jimmy Anderson followed this up with 5-20 in India’s first innings and 4-44 in their second innings, in the 2^nd Test ,at Lord’s, and now has 13 wickets in the series so far.

Brilliant bowling at Lord’s, with his team mate Stuart Broad, enabled England to take a 2-0 advantage in the series and win the 2^nd Test by an innings and 159 runs.

Jimmy Anderson has also become only the seventh England bowler and the first in 38 years from his country to breach the 900-point mark in the MRF Tyres ICC Test Player Rankings. His outstanding match figures of nine for 43 have enabled him to reach 903 points and join a select group comprising Sydney Barnes (932), George Lohmann (931), Tony Lock (912), Ian Botham (911), Derek Underwood (907) and Alec Bedser (903), all of whom peaked at over 900 points during their careers.
