Cricket World Player of the Week - Kane Williamson Sunrisers Hyderabad
Kane Williamson, the Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper, is the Cricket World Player of the Week. He has marshalled his squad into the IPL play-offs and, in the absence of the banned Australian cricketer David Warner, has had some MOM winning performances as well.
Our IPL Match Analyst, Mayukh Bhattacharya commented: “People never doubted Kane Williamson’s captaincy credentials. What they did doubt though is whether he would have the same impact with the bat as David Warner. He may not have bludgeoned fours and sixes off the opposition bowling but he has played beautifully at crucial stages of the tournament. With 410 runs at an average of 51.25 and a strike rate of 131.83, he has barely put a foot wrong.”
Also in the frame for this week’s Player of the Week was Kings XI Punjab opening bat, Lokesh Rahul, who is wearing the Orange Cap, as the IPL leading batsman at the moment.
In the UK, top performances from Yorkshire and Durham, players enabling their teams to snatch victories from very difficult situations and the first Double Century of the season by Dane Vilas 235* for Lancashire CCC in their draw with Somerset CCC.
