Cricket World Player of the Week - Keshav Maharaj
Player of the Series Keshav Maharaj was on fire in the 2-Test series between South Africa and Bangladesh and took 16 wickets at 12.12.
Keshav Maharaj not only won the Player of the Series in the Test leg of the Bangladesh tour of South Africa, 2022 but also won the Player of the Match award in both the Test matches.
In the absence of many of their key players due to the IPL, South Africa brushed aside Bangladesh quite comfortably, winning the second Test at the St George's Park, Port Elizabeth by 332 runs to take the series 2-0.
The team piled on 453 runs in the first innings of the 2nd Test and remained on top throughout the match. It was courtesy of Keshav Maharaj's effort that the visitors folded up for 217 and 80 in their two innings.
Maharaj bowled 83.0 overs in the two matches and ended up with as many as 16 wickets from just four innings at a brilliant average of 12.12.
And this is when the South African pitches have been compared to being a graveyard for spinners in recent times. Moreover, Bangladesh batters are adept at playing spin back home.
As it turned out, Maharaj proved to be too good for them.
