South African wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock sealed a place for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2022 playoffs with an unbeaten 140-run knock off just 70 deliveries.

Lucknow Super Giants hadn't still confirmed their berth in the playoffs when they met Kolkata Knight Riders in their last group match of IPL 2022. Although the team was likely to make the cut even if they lost, it isn't wise to leave anything to chance in the cut-throat competition of the IPL.

This is when South African opening batter and wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock came to the fore. He had a record unbeaten 210-run partnership with captain KL Rahul.

The unbeaten opening stand became the third-highest partnership for any wicket in the IPL. It was also the first time that a team had batted the entire 20 overs in the IPL without losing a wicket.

Quinton de Kock's 140-run knock off just 70 deliveries, laden with 10 fours and 10 sixes, came at a destructive strike rate of 200.

He also became the third-highest individual scorer in the history of the IPL, only behind Chris Gayle's 175 and Brendon McCullum's 158.

QDK is currently the third-highest run-scorer in IPL 2022 and is also only one of three players including Jos Buttler and KL Rahul to have crossed the 500-run mark.

Quinton de Kock has scored 502 runs from 14 outings in IPL 2022 at an average of 38.61 and a strike rate of 149, with three half-centuries and one century.
