Cricket World Player of the Week - Smriti Mandhana
India's Smriti Mandhana struck the highest score in women's Tests in Australia by a visiting player as she made an eye-catching 127 to keep India in the driver's seat in the one-off Test match.
Mandana struck the first hundred for India in Australia and only the second in Test cricket against Australia women. It was courtesy of her brilliant century in the first innings of the Test match that India declared for 377/8 from 145 overs and were in a position to call the shots throughout the rain-curtailed Test match.
Had almost an entire day not been washed out, India would have been in a position to push for victory.
It was an inspired performance by the Indian women's team considering that they had almost no practice with the pink ball in the lead up to their maiden day-night Test match.
This is now their second strong performance in Test cricket this year. The first one had come against England as the team resumed red ball cricket after seven years at the international level.
Mandhana currently has 325 runs from seven innings of four Test matches at an average of 46 with one century and two half-centuries.
