CSK batsman Kedar Jadhav to miss the entire season due to hamstring injury
At a time when the annual cricket schedule is packed with international matches and domestic leagues all around the globe, the first match of IPL 2018 brought some bad news not only for the Chennai Super Kings fans but the cricket lovers in general.
Chennai middle order batsman Kedav Jadhav has been diagnosed with a with a grade-2 hamstring tear and as a result he would have to sit out for the entire tournament. Jadhav tore his hamstring while he was batting in the opening match of the league against Mumbai Indians in an attempt to steal a quick single.
Following Dwayne Bravo’s explosive knock, CSK needed 7 runs to win off the last over with 9 wickets down. Despite being in severe pain and being hardly able to walk, the Maharashtra batsman took the field. Jadhav presented CSK with a thrilling victory by smashing a six and a four off consecutive deliveries of the bowling of MI pacer Mustafizur Rahman.

Chennai’s batting coach Michael Hussey also expressed his sorrow over the unfortunate incident. "We haven't picked a replacement as yet but we will go through that process. It (Kedar Jadhav's injury) is a big loss for us because he is obviously a very, very good player and a key player for us in the middle order. So big shoes to fill for a little man I guess," said Hussey.
In the absence of Kedar Jadhav, opener Murali Vijay is all set to replace him in CSK’s playing XI. Ambati Rayudu who featured at the top of the order in the first game is likely to bat in the middle order with Murali Vijay opening the batting for the Lions.
