Cricket World Player Of The Week - Mignon Du Preez

Du Preez raises her bat
Mignon du Preez hit her maiden ODI century as the Proteas beat Bangladesh in Johannesburg.

With the Champions League T20 now well underway, there has been very little top-level international cricket over the past week in the men’s game, with Shane Watson’s century in the deciding ODI at Southampton on Monday the sole significant performance.

In Associate cricket, Akram Raza took seven for 37 on the opening day of the United Arab Emirates’ InterContinental Cup match against Namibia yesterday, but it is to South Africa and the women’s game that we turn to find the winner of this week’s Cricket World Player of the Week award.

Debutant Lizelle Lee hit 77 in the first ODI between South Africa and Bangladesh on Friday, but it is the maiden century from her captain in yesterday’s series-clinching game that sees her win the award.

24-year-old Mignon du Preez brought up her century off 105 balls in Johannesburg and led the Proteas to a 95-run win that helped them secure the series with a game to play.
