While Delhi Capitals registered a comprehensive win in their first match of IPL 2021 Phase 2, Rajasthan Royals pulled off a heist.

LIVE SCORES - Delhi Capitals vs Rajasthan Royals

With Stoinis injured, DC search for the right balance

The injury to Marcus Stoinis has upset the balance of Delhi Capitals. The best possible option at the moment appears to be the inclusion of spin bowling all-rounder Lalit Yadav. In that case, the team will have to go in with just 3 overseas players which is not unheard of.

Another option could be to bolster their batting by bringing in Steve Smith in place of Stoinis and placing their trust in Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje and Avesh Khan to share the 20 overa.

Rabada and Nortje set the scene alight

It was a cakewalk for Delhi in their first match of the second phase of IPL 2021 as they romped home against Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets. Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje were sensational in their venue of choice and shared 5 wickets between. The quicks broke the back of the Hyderabad bowling line up.

Axar Patel was also right on the money and picked up two wickets while conceding 21 runs. His spin bowling partner Ravichandran Ashwin would like to get a bit more consistent.

Dhawan, Iyer among the runs

Shikhar Dhawan then gave the Indian selectors, who did not pick him for the upcoming T20 World Cup, some food for thought, as he played a responsible 37-ball 42 in a below par chase.

Returning to competitive cricket for the first time since his shoulder surgery, Shreyas Iyer made an unbeaten 47 off 41 balls. Rishabh Pant looked a lot like himself and remained unbeaten on 35 off 21 balls to take Delhi home.

The team is now placed at the top of the points table with 7 victories from 9 matches and one more win will help them seal their playoff spot.

Rajasthan's heist

Rajasthan pulled off a blinder in their last match against Punjab. The team was nowhere in the picture for most of the match but Mustafizur Rahman and Kartik Tyagi did the unthinkable.

Rajasthan needed to defend 10 off the last 15 deliveries at one point and somehow they managed to succeed despite a disappointing show from Chris Morris.

However, Rajasthan would know that victories like this occur once in a blue moon and they need to work a lot more on their process.
