Batting first, TUTI Patriots opener Akshay Srinivasan got off to a good start. Not only did he ensure that wickets did not fall from one end but also batted at a rapid rate and scored 55 off just 41 deliveries, at a strike rate of almost 135.

However, Srinivasan did not receive any support from the other end as wickets kept falling one after another. Skipper Subramania Siva stayed at the crease for a while and the partnership between the two looked promising.

Once Siva departed, three wickets each from Kiran Akash and R Mithun did not allow the Patriots to consolidate, as the team could only manage 124 from their stipulated 20 overs.

In reply, Madurai Panthers chased the total like a true champion and hardly broke a sweat during the chase. Skipper Arun Karthik led the way, remaining unbeaten on 65 from 42 deliveries.

In an innings adorned with seven fours and three sixes, Karthik hardly lost his way or looked to do something out of the ordinary. Despite that, he batted at a healthy strike rate of over 150 and had a 95-run partnership with Sarath Raj.

Wicketkeeper Nilesh Subramaniam then came out to just complete the formalities as the team cantered to a win with nine wickets remaining.
