Devendra Bishoo sustains shoulder injury in practice session
West Indies injury woes on their ongoing tour of Australia have been further compounded by the shoulder injury to Devendra Bishoo prior to the start of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.
During a fielding practice session Bishoo fell on his shoulder and had to be taken to the hospital to undergo scans with the team management fearing a rotator cuff injury.
The West Indies Cricket Board confirmed the news on their official Twitter handle and said: “Leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo to have scan on injured left shoulder, sustained during training on Thursday.”
The 30-year-old last played a Test match in October against Sri Lanka in Colombo and took part in the practice games against Cricket Australia XI and Victoria XI in Brisbane and Geelong respectively.
West Indies have already lost the services of Shannon Gabriel due to an ankle injury and opted to pick Carlos Brathwaite as a replacement for the second Test match.
After winning the toss and opting to bowl first in the Melbourne Test, West Indies struggled to pick wickets as Australia amassed 345 for three with centuries from Joe Burns and Usman Khawaja.
