G Periyaswamy drew first blood for Chepauk Super Gillies, dismissing Dindigul Dragons' opener Hari Nishanth in the second over. In a surprise move, skipper Ravichandran Ashwin came out to bat at number three for Dindigul Dragons and changed the momentum right away, slamming five fours and one six in his small but explosive knock of 37(19), going at a strike rate of close to 200.

However, following Ashwin's wicket, the Dindigul innings stumbled and could never get back to its feet, managing just 115-9 from their 20 overs.
