Dinesh Chandimal ruled out of final two games against India
Sri Lanka will miss the services of Dinesh Chandimal for the final two games against India in the ongoing One-Day International series following a fracture on his thumb.
The incident happened in the 17th over, when he was hit on the thumb by a Hardik Pandya delivery and was attended by a physio. He was batting at 25 at that stage was eventually dismissed 11 runs later by the same bowler.
A statement released by the Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed the news on Chandimal.
"SLC confirms that Test captain Dinesh Chandimal will be out of action for the rest of the series after sustaining a hairline fracture to his right thumb. We will have a better idea of timeline of his recovery after consulting a specialist in Colombo tomorrow," read the statement.
The 27-year-old was not a original member of the squad but was drafted in as a replacement for Upul Tharanga, who was suspended for two games due to slow overrate.
India have already completed a series victory following their wins in the first three games and the final two games has been scheduled to play in Colombo on 31st August and 3rd September.
