India have recalled wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik for the third and final Test against South Africa to be played between in Johannesburg later this month.

The news follows after Wriddhiman Saha has been ruled out of the remainder of the series after suffering an upper left hamstring tendon injury during training which forced him to miss the second Test in Centurion as well.

In the absence of Saha, it was Parthiv Patel, who took his place in the XI but could not quite impress as he dropped a couple of chances and managed just 19 runs in the first innings.

Karthik last played a Test match in January 2010 but has been recently involved in the limited overs squad. He has overall played 23 Tests in which has managed 1000 runs at an average of 27.77.

The series is currently poised 1-0 in favour of South Africa following their 72-run victory in the first Test in Cape Town.
