Miller is returning to the Tallawahs, along with Chris Gayle, from the St. Kitts Patriots where he served as the Patriots’ Head Coach last season. The Patriots ended the 2018 CPL competition in third place.
Miller is excited to be back with the Jamaica Tallawahs; “I want to take this opportunity to thank the management team at the Patriots for giving me the opportunity to lead such a wonderful franchise. We had some great times there which I will cherish for the rest of my life. On the flip side, I am delighted to be heading back home with the Tallawahs. Hopefully we can create the same type of environment that saw us winning the title in 2016. I’m also excited that Chris is rejoining the Tallawahs as we’ve been able to work well together and deliver great results over the years.”
Meanwhile Jamaica Tallawahs’ CEO Jefferson Miller is happy that Donovan Miller is making a return to the Jamaica Tallawahs and is optimistic that coach Miller will guide the team to another coveted CPL title. “Donovan is returning home to Jamaica to help bring a third championship title to the franchise. Donovan seems to have a winning touch and he’ll undoubtedly provide the players with the guidance needed in the 2019 CPL T20 tournament,” he said.
Born in Jamaica, Donovan Miller has represented Melbourne Cricket Club locally and worked with various cricket teams across the world. Miller is now based in the United Kingdom, where he played a role in assisting Essex County Club to win the 2016 and 2017 Championship titles. He also had a very successful 2018 season where he was Head Coach of Vancouver Knights who were crowned champions in the inaugural Global T20 in Canada. Miller was also a part of the Jozi Stars coaching staff. The team won South Africa’s Mzansi Super League T20 competition.
