Drawn series looms after third consecutive washout
Bangladesh 246-8 (Mushfiqur Rahim 65) v South Africa
Second Test, Mirpur, day four
Play has been called off on day four of the second Test between Bangladesh and South Africa in Mirpur after rain came back to undo the good work of the ground staff in the morning.
That is the third consecutive day called off due to rain in this Test match, making a result virtually impossible.
It also pretty much seals the deal for this series, which will be drawn thanks to rain playing spoilsport in both matches.
This is the third successive match to be washed out in Bangladesh due to rain after the lone Test between India and Bangladesh was also heavily interrupted by rain.
So far in this Test, only one full day was played between the teams. The drawn series will be particularly bad news for South Africa as they are set to lose five ranking points in the International Cricket Council Test rankings.
Bangladesh, on the other hand will gain six ranking points, even though they have some catching up to do at number nine to challenge West Indies at number eight.
With the forecast looking better, tomorrow (Monday) will be the final day of South Africa's tour to Bangladesh.
