South Africa batsman JP Duminy will not take part in the ICC World Twenty20 clash against West Indies after suffering a hamstring injury.

During South Africa’s game against Afghanistan on Sunday, Duminy injured his hamstring and according to the team manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee, scans have revealed a strain.

Moosajee confirmed that the team management has chalked out a plan to try and get Duminy fit for the match against Sri Lanka in Delhi.

"The scans which were done yesterday confirmed our clinical suspicion of a hamstring strain which means that he will be ruled out of Friday’s game," said Dr Moosajee.

"The plan is to try and get him ready for our last round-robin match against Sri Lanka in Delhi on Sunday.

"Our physiotherapist, Brandon Jackson, has already started with treatment and rehab and for now we will have to wait and see how he responds to the plan."

After facing West Indies in Nagpur on 25th March, South Africa will travel to Delhi where they will face Sri Lanka in their final game of the Super 10 stage on the 28th of March.

After winning one game out of the two they have played so far in the ICC World T20, South Africa are positioned second in the Group 1 points table with a net run rate of +0.816.
