ECB appoint Graeme Swann as spin bowling consultant
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has appointed former off-spinner Graeme Swann as a spin bowling consultant for the Under-19 players.
Swann, who was England’s leading spinner between 2008 and 2013, will work with the U-19 players and also those who are likely to claim a place in the England Lions squad.
According to a report on ESPNcricinfo, Swann is expected to conduct sessions at Loughborough ahead of the winter season.
Recently, ECB appointed Saqlain Mushtaq for a short spell to work as the spin bowling consultant ahead of the Test match at Old Trafford against Pakistan.
Mushtaq is also likely to work with the England Test spinners prior to the winter tours to the sub-continent.
Since the retirement of Swann in 2013, England have failed to find a long-term replacement and currently have the likes of Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid vying to cement their spot in the side.
In his five-year Test career, Swann quickly established himself as one the leading off-spinners and took 255 wickets at an average of 29.96 including 17 five-wicket hauls.
