However, the England bowlers hit back hard, bowling Australia out for just 225 in their 1st Innings - Jofra Archer 6-62 and Sam Curran 3-46 doing the damage – ‘that man’ Steve Smith top scored with 80 before being out LBW to Chris Woakes – he became the first player in cricket history to score 10 consecutive half centuries against the same opposition.
England closed the day on 9-0, after Joe Denly was dropped by Harris in the slips, with a lead of 78 runs.
