England scrape home to series whitewash 3-0 against Sri Lanka

England scraped home by 42 runs in the 3rd and final Test, of the three match series, to take the series 3-0 against Sri Lanka.

England 336 (Jonny Bairstow 110, Ben Stokes 57; Lakshan Sandakan 5-95) and 230 (Jos Buttler 64; Dilruwan Perera 5-88)

Sri Lanka – 240 (Dimuth Karunaratne 83, Dhananjaya de Silva 73; Adil Rashid 5-49, Ben Stokes 3-30) and 284 (Kusal Mendis 86,  Roshen Silva 65, Malinda Pushpakumara 42*; Moeen Ali 4-92, Jack Leach 3-72 )

Result – England won by 42 runs

It was a tight finish in the end and Sri Lanka fought courageously to get a positive result, especially the 10th wicket pair of  Lakshan Sandakan and  Malinda Pushpakumara 42* who put on 58 for the last wicket. However, it was not to be Sri Lanka’s day and England won by 42 runs.
