England were unable to build on an encouraging 56-run win over Sri Lanka A in a tour game two days ago as the scheduled second match was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Rain and a wet outfield prevented any chance of even a shortened game taking place and England now leave the P Sara Oval behind as they prepare for their seven-match One-Day International series against Sri Lanka.

The opening game is at the R Premadesa Stadium - also in Colombo - on Wednesday 26th November.

While England will be disappointed to have lost another opportunity to get accustomed to Sri Lankan conditions, the home side will now have to pick their ODI squad without getting a chance to see their fringe players get another outing.
