England Take Series With Five-Wicket Win
England Women 102-5 (Knight 26) beat
New Zealand Women 97-9 by five wickets
Third Twenty20 International, Lincoln
England Women marked Charlotte Edwards' 200th match as captain of her country with a five-wicket win in the decisive third Twenty20 International against New Zeland Women in Lincoln.
England chased down a target of 98 to seal the series 2-1 with Heather Knight (26 and two for 14) putting in a fine all-round performance.
Opening the bowling, she saw off Suzie Bates (7) and Sara McGlashan (6) and although Sophie Devine hit 37 in 31 balls, New Zealand struggled and closed on 97 for nine.
Danielle Hazell, Laura Marsh and Jenny Gunn took a brace of wickets and Katherine Brunt one.
In reply, Edwards could manage only five runs on the occasion of her 200th match as England captain but her team-mates ensured she could still celebrate a victory.
Knight, Lydia Greenway (25) and Sarah Taylor (20) were the mainstays of England's batting before Brunt's eight not out saw them home with eight balls to spare.
The two sides will now complete the final two matches of a five-match One-Day International series with matches on 26th and 28th February.
New Zealand lead that series 2-1.
