Moeen Ali and Jack Leach were the England heroes as they took the final Sri Lanka wickets earlier today to record a famous win in Kandy.

Scorecard

England won their first series in Sri Lanka since 2001 and it was England's first away series win since beating South Africa in 2016

Joe Root led his team to his first series victory away from home and also won the Man of the Match Award for his hundred in the 2nd innings.

England take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series with the final Test in Colombo starting on Friday.

Stat attack – the spinners from England and Sri Lanka managed to take 38 wickets in the match, which is a record in Test cricket.
