The Cricket Australia Chairman's XI beat England Women by two wickets in a warm-up match in Melbourne ahead of the Women's Ashes One-Day Internationals.

A tight game was decided in the closing stages when the Chairman's XI closed on 238 for eight after England had been bowled out for 237.

Sarah Taylor top scored for England with 52 while Lydia Greenway retired after scoring 44 and Natalie Sciver made 42.

The CA XI dismissed the tourists in 49.3 overs as Julie Hunter took three for 30 and Kristen Beams two for 36.

Jess Jonassen then made 52 and Nicole Bolton 46 and despite three wickets apiece for Jenny Gunn and Danielle Hazell, the home side held their nerve to get over the line in 47.5 overs.

The first of three ODIs is in Melbourne on Sunday and England hold a 6-0 lead in the multi-format series.
