Off-spinner Danielle Hazell has been handed the reins of the England Women team for ongoing third One-Day International against Sri Lanka Women in Colombo.
The decision comes after regular captain Heather Knight missed the game with a left hamstring injury that she sustained in the second ODI in Colombo.
Hazell, who becomes the 15th player to lead England Women team in the 50-over format accounted for the wickets of Nipuni Hansika and Ama Kanchana in the game while conceding just 24 runs in the 10 overs. She also effected the run out of Chamari Polgampola as Sri Lanka were dismissed for 161.
Earlier, fast bowler Katherine Brunt was also ruled out of the game with a thigh injury.
Both, Knight and Brunt will continue to remain with the squad and their fitness will be assessed again ahead of the fourth and final game of the series at the same venue.
