Essex have confirmed that former England skipper Alastair Cook will be available for the final two rounds of the County Championship games against Hampshire and Yorkshire.
Cook will bolster Essex's chances of claiming the Division One title and will head into his club commitments after scoring 304 runs from five innings against West Indies that also include a double century.
Essex head coach Chris Silverwood is pleased with Cook's availability as the 32-year-old has been in excellent form this season, scoring 667 runs from seven County Championship matches at an average of 66.70.
"Obviously it is always a massive bonus to get a player of Alastair's calibre back into the squad and around the group.
"He made a massive difference earlier in the season and helped set us on the path we have been on. Hopefully now he can come back and help us achieve the dream of lifting the Division One title."
Essex are currently at the top of the Divison One table with 193 points and are in a strong position in their ongoing encounter against Warwickshire in which they managed 168 run first innings lead riding on valiant knocks from Varun Chopra, Dan Lawrence and Jamie Foster.
