Pakistan pace bowler Mohammad Amir will be available for Essex's County Championship Division One clash against Somerset scheduled to be played between 28th and 31st August at Old Trafford.

The news comes days after the Pakistan board instructed its players from English and Caribbean Premier League duties to return back to the country to participate in a training camp ahead of the ICC World XI contests followed by a full-fledged series against Sri Lanka.

However, according to the latest development, Amir will depart to Pakistan following the Friday's Natwest T20 Blast clash against Sussex for a series of fitness and medical tests and is expected to arrive in time for the County Championship match against Somerset. Though, there is no confirmation on whether he will be available for the other games as well.

Amir made an impressive start to his county career, claiming 12 wickets from two Championship games including a 10-wicket haul against Yorkshire and has also snared 13 wickets from 12 Natwest T20 Blast games with an economy of 6.74 before Friday's game.

The Chelmsford outfit currently top the division one table of County Championship with 158 wins from nine matches that includes six wins as well.
