Essex have acquired the services of Pakistan speedster Mohammad Amir for the remainder of the County Championship matches and also for the Natwest T20 Blast fixtures as well.

The 25-year-old, who bowled an incredible spell in the final of the Champions Trophy 2017 picking the wickets of in-form Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan to set up the Pakistan victory is set to make his debut for the county club on 26th June during the day-night encounter against Middlesex in Chelmsford.

Essex Head Coach Chris Silverwood is delighted by the announcement of Amir joining the club and is confident of him achieving success.

"I think everyone has seen in recent weeks what a coup it is bringing him to the Club.

"He is one of the most exciting bowling talents in the world and we can't wait to see what he can do in an Essex shirt. It should be a great spectacle on Monday, with the pink ball under lights and I am sure we will be backed by a big crowd."

Essex currently top the Division One table with 98 points and are yet to lose a game this season after playing seven matches.
