Essex vs Gloucestershire
Match abandoned without a ball being bowled
South Group, Natwest T20 Blast, Chelmsford
Incessant rain played spoilsport in the South Group Natwest T20 Blast between Essex and Gloucestershire in Chelmsford as the game was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
This also means Essex continue their struggle in the bottom of the group with just two wins in nine games while Gloucestershire are positioned sixth.
The news was not an ideal one to begin with as rain delayed the proceedings right from the toss. After three hours of wet weather, rain halted briefly at 19:45 local time and there was an inspection scheduled at 21:00 local time.
The toss was scheduled at 21:10 local time which Gloucestershire won and decided to field first in a revised five over game but all the hopes went in vain as rain returned eight minutes back and ended the game without a result.
