Essex sign Pakistan speedster Mohammad Amir
The 24-year-old restarted his career after a gap of almost six years and was an integral part of the Pakistan bowling attack in the four-match Test series against England and also the three Tests against West Indies in United Arab Emirates.
Overall, he has played 20 Test matches for Pakistan and picked 69 wickets including three five-wicket hauls. He will be joining Essex at the conclusion of his international commitments and is expected to play in all the three formats for the county club.
Head coach of Essex Chris Silverwood. confirmed the news on Amir's signing.
"We are thrilled that Mohammad has decided to join us for half of the 2017 campaign. He showed a real desire to be a part of the club," said Silverwood.
"He is still only young but has proved himself at international level already, so it is a real coup to get this signing completed."
Apart from the 20 Test matches, Amir has also played 24 One-Day Internationals and 31 Twenty20 Internationals for Pakistan picking 71 wickets overall spread across the two formats.
