Live Scores and Stats - East Bengal Club v Mohun Bagan AC - Match 11

East Bengal have had dismal outings in their first 2 contests. In the first match, they folded up for 118 batting first against Tapan Memorial Club. Their bowling standards matched to that of their batting as they lost the game comprehensively by 6 wickets.  In the second game, they bowled first and conceded 142 runs against a formidable Town Club. Batting second, East Bengal Club could never find the right momentum in their innings and ended up losing the game by 14 runs.

There were high expectations from the East Bengal Club coming into the tournament but their senior players have disappointed so far. Arnab Nandi showed signs of taking the attack to the opposition in last game but the effort was in vain. He lacked support from the other end to win the first game of the tournament for his team. The other players who have shown promise in the first two games are Mukesh Kumar and Akash Pandey. Mukesh Kumar has been consistent with the ball in both the first games and his economical spells will be crucial in the next games. Shreevats Goswami needs to rethink about his approach to the opposition bowlers. He looked stuck in his crease for most of the time and changing the approach may lead to better results for him.

Abhimanyu Easwaran has been tested positive for Covid 19 and was absent from the first few fixtures. Hopefully, he will recover soon to represent his side again. His arrival would definitely add up to the team balance sought desperately by the East Bengal Club.

Mohun Baagan AC are not able to take their momentum forward after a convincing win in the first game against Calcutta Customs Club. In the second match, they lost by 6 wickets and in the third game, they were absolutely hammered by Tapan Memorial Club in the absence of their key player, Manoj Tiwary.

Fielding first against Tapan Memorial Club, they were carted all over the park by the likes of Shahbaz Ahmed and Sandipan Das Sr. Only Writtick Chatterjee bowled according to the field placements and returned with the figures of 14 runs in 4 overs. Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal and Anurag Tiwari and the other bowlers were taken to the cleaners by the Tapan Memorial batsmen and the Mohun Bagan AC conceded 154 runs against the opposition.

After leaking too many runs, batsmen had the responsibility of chasing the target by building partnerships. Vivek Singh started off with a quick fire 19 runs off 14 balls before he was dismissed by Gaurav Chauhan. After that, Anustup Majumdar showed signs of taking his team home but he could not convert the start he got and was dismissed by P Barman to tighten the screw even more on Mohan Bagan AC batting. None of the other batsmen seemed to threaten the opposition and they were bowled out for 112 losing the game by a huge margin of 43 runs.

Mohun Bagan AC will be hoping to have Manoj Tiwary fit and back into their side for the next game against East Bengal Club. They also need their senior batsmen like Debabrata Das and Shivam Sharma to give a more mature contribution to their team.
